Mix:
2 cups of flour
1/4 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (if desired)
In a separate bowl whisk:
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Combine the wet and dry ingredients until you get a smooth, pour-able batter (a bit thinner than pancake batter.)
Heat about an inch and a half of oil in a deep pan to 375° F.
Pour the batter into the oil in a swirling, weaving pattern, either straight from a measuring cup or through a funnel (hence the name).
Fry for 2 - 3 minutes until golden, flip once, then drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm.
